LA Restaurant Ideas For Your Next Birthday Party

Deciding where to have your birthday dinner is a major decision.  For me, it's less about finding the newest hotspot, and more about what I'm feeling at the time.  And if you happen to be celebrating in Los Angeles, here are some restaurants for whatever mood you might be in.

CLASSIC AND PRIVATE

WOLFGANG PUCK AT THE BEL-AIR HOTEL

701 Stone Canyon Rd.

Los Angeles, CA 90077

Elegant yet simple California cuisine at it’s best by super star chef Wolfgang Puck. Tucked away in The Bel Air-Hotel, an oasis removed from the hub hub of Los Angeles and the monotony of life, celebrate your special day with an opulent yet comfortable experience where you can actually hear each other talk. Heck, maybe even get a birthday massage or facial while you’re there!

LOW-KEY HIPPIE HIPSTER

BOWERY BUNGALOW

4156 Santa Monica Blvd.

Los Angeles, CA 90029

Step into this charming homestead in the heart of Silver Lake’s Sunset Junction. It’s a beautiful modern twist on Middle Eastern fare. Perfect spot whether you’re a carnivore or vegetarian, indoor or outdoor kind of party animal. To boot, they have great accommodations for larger parties such as a quaint outdoor patio area you can dominate as well as a special menu to offset the frustration of separate checks. If not for the friendly patrons and servers, then for the out of this world spices.

ALL ABOUT THE FOOD

NEWPORT SEAFOOD

518 W Las Tunas Drive

San Gabriel, CA 91776

If you’re the type of birthday person who believes nothing is better than spinning really really good Chinese food on a lazy susan amongst great company, this is your place!  The seafood is so fresh, it’s still alive as you sit down to order.  And for those who prefer not to dine on the treats of the ocean, there’s plenty of tasty alternatives that are just as popular as their lobster.  They even have semi private rooms for larger parties and a parking lot with free valet… Just be sure to arrive on the earlier side to miss the long wait times.

OLD SCHOOL CLUBHOUSE

MUSSO & FRANK GRILL

6667 Hollywood Blvd.

Hollywood, CA 90028

Forget what’s “trending”, immerse yourself in Old Hollywood where Charlie Chaplin and Marilyn Monroe used to dine.  Take the traditional glamorous approach and celebrate while gnawing on a steak the way grandma used to make. Intimate and dimly lit, prepare for your fill of history and gravy. Warning: you will break your diet and leave satisfied.

RUSTIC CHIC

GJELINA

1429 Abbot Kinney Blvd.

Venice, CA 90291

(310) 450-1429

This restaurant gets 5 stars all around because the ambiance is just as good as the food. The energy is lively and playful, the music always on point, and the ever changing menu (which change according to seasons) will surely excite your tastebuds — there’s nothing not to love.  If you’re party cant get a little rowdy, yet you steer clear of the flashy Hollywood-type scene, Gjelina delivers a great party place that serves (literally) farm-to-table, gourmet fare in the most delectable, rustic way.  This is like totally California laid-back cool… no really.

PS. They have a private room upstairs you can rent for a really epic party.  It’s super stunning.

SWANKY FEAST

CLEO

The Redbury Hotel Hollywood

1717 Vine Street

Los Angeles, CA 90028

Stationed in the heartbeat of Hollywood inside a bustling hotel, dinner at Cleo’s will surely be a scene. Enjoy handcrafted cocktails and seriously delicious Mediterranean-inspired tapas you can share in mass quantities and get a little taste of everything. Both food and venue are warm, inviting, relaxed, yet glamorous and exciting. Moreover, it makes for an effortless transition into the rest of your celebratory night… just walk outside!
